Weld RE-4 Universal Scholarship
The Universal Scholarship is now open to all current seniors at Windsor High School and Severance High School. There is one application with thirteen different local scholarships attached. Scholarships included on the Universal Scholarship Application are possible thanks to generous members and organizations within the Windsor/Severance community. Please read all directions carefully as you work through the application. The deadline has passed, look for scholarships in 2025. Contact scholarships@weldre4.org with questions.
What is the Weld RE-4 Universal Scholarship Application?
- This scholarship application offers Weld RE-4 seniors the opportunity to apply for up to thirteen different local scholarships.
- “Local” means that the scholarships that are listed are ONLY FOR SENIORS WHO WILL GRADUATE FROM SEVERANCE HIGH SCHOOL OR WINDSOR HIGH SCHOOL IN THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR. (Seniors who graduated in December 2023 may apply.)
- “Universal Scholarship Application” means that you are filling out ONE application for MULTIPLE scholarships. Each scholarship has different criteria and may have additional requirements.
Universal Scholarship Submission Tips:
Access your transcript through your Campus Portal account. Go to “Documents”, then choose “Counselor Transcript Weighted”. This is the transcript that you will upload to your application.
GPA and Class Rank are found in the top left corner of your transcript. Report the “Weighted GPA” on your application.
Your SAT score can be found on your transcript under the heading “Standard Tests”

There are two sections below. The first section shows scholarships that are available to seniors graduating from Severance High School and Windsor High School. The second section shows scholarships that are available only to students from Windsor High School.
Upon successful submission, you will receive a copy of your responses. Responses may not be edited after submission. It is recommended that you have ALL responses and documentation ready to upload and submit in one session. To view all questions prior to starting the application, please click here.
Weld RE-4 Education Foundation Scholarships:
The following scholarships are intended for Windsor High School or Severance High School Students, please see requirements for each scholarship.

Anser Advisory Company Scholarship
Description:
This scholarship is open to students who plan to pursue a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Studies, and have achieved a cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher in high school. Funds will be available at the beginning of the first semester upon proof of enrollment at a two or four-year institution in one of the eligible fields of study and will be paid directly to the institution. $1000 will be awarded to a student from Windsor High School and $1000 will be awarded to a student from Severance High School.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
- The applicant intends to pursue a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Studies
- 2.8 cumulative GPA or higher
- Upload: Short essay outlining your role in and speaking to the importance of participating in extracurricular activities and/or community service. 500 word maximum.
- Open to students from Windsor High School and Severance High School
Arlene LeGrand Bright Start Scholarship
Description:
This scholarship is being established by Lakeside Consultants in honor and memory of Rich and Arlene LeGrand. Lakeside Consultants is committed to creating partnerships that transform communities through their Tattered Flag Initiative for Weld RE-4 students. We will select one female student who will be awarded $1000 in honor of Arlene LeGrand. The scholarship will be awarded for the first semester.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be female
- 2.8 GPA or higher
- Upload: Letter of recommendation from a teacher
- Open to students from Windsor High School and Severance High School
DLR Group Scholarship
Description:
The DLR Group empowers learners through a forward-looking research-informed design focus that delivers transformational opportunity and fulfillment for all. The applicant intends to pursue a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Studies. $1,000 will be awarded to a student from WHS and $1,000 will be awarded to a student from SHS. The scholarship will be awarded for the first semester.

Karen J Trusler Scholarship
Description:
This scholarship is sponsored by the Weld RE-4 Educational Foundation in honor of Karen J. Trusler, who has been a dedicated teacher, principal, superintendent, and Board of Education member in our school district for nearly four decades. During that time, Trusler has been a leader within the district and an active member of the greater Windsor/Severance community. This scholarship is meant to recognize a student who has demonstrated similar leadership, integrity, and community involvement. Strong extracurricular and co-curricular involvement in school and/or community will be considered. $500 will be awarded to a student from Severance High School and $500 will be awarded to a student from Windsor High School. The award will be given once the student has completed one semester of college and has attained a 3.0 grade point average or higher, must show transcript or grades. Must be enrolled in 2nd semester with proof of class registration.

- 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.

Rich LeGrand Bright Start Scholarship
Description:

Richard and Valerie Huwa Scholarship
Description:
This scholarship was established by Richard and Valerie Huwa of Greeley, Colorado, through the Weld RE-4 Education Foundation, in furtherance of the Huwas' longtime commitment to the schools and students of the Weld RE-4 district.
Though not a requirement, preference may be given to students who are the first generation of the student’s family to pursue a college education.
The award will not be given until the student has completed one semester in college and has attained a grade point average of 3.2 or higher. The student shall provide the Foundation an official transcript from the college or university upon successful completion of the first semester. At this time the Foundation will award the student the sum of $1,000, with payment of the scholarship funds directly to the college or university in which the student is enrolled.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
- 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
- Applicants to have an expressed interest through their intended major to be anything related to agriculture or medical.
- The student plans to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or university.
